How to Decipher Tire Sizes

When you look at the side of the tires that are on your vehicle, you will notice a string of letters and numbers. You may wonder what these numbers mean. These numbers tell you the size of the tires on your vehicle.

For an example, let's say that the number on your tires is 215/70r15. The number 215 is the width of the tire from sidewall to sidewall. It is measured in millimeters. The number 70 is a ratio number. It is the ratio of the sidewall's height to its width. The letter "r" means that this example tire is a radial tire. The number 15 is the size of the wheel in inches that the tire will fit upon.

If you need to get new tires on your vehicle, the service department at Blue Knob Auto Sales can help you select the tires that are most appropriate for your vehicle.
